 Today just flew by!

Highlights:

1. Captains Coming with Mr. Kelly at snack!

2. We continued working on our Rocks and Minerals project. Please do not do anything on the slides this weekend as we are still working on the research process and students need to work collaboratively together. But your students could take some jot notes and research on a piece of paper to bring on Monday!

3. We did some speed rounds on representing fractions using real world items!

Ask your student: can they make some fractions using stuff in your house?

We hope you have a safe and fun weekend! See you Monday!

 Friday February 19, 2021

Today we were fortunate to see a presentation and have a live chat with some amazing young people who are a part of Earth Guardians.  These young people are making a difference in the world through their words and actions.  Please see our Google Classroom for the link to the slide show if you would like to review this weekend!

Something to talk about:  What did you learn from the presentation today?  How were you inspired by their words and actions?

We did some more work on FRACTIONS today and we are finding it pretty tricky!  We have explored representing fractions in a variety of ways the past few weeks, including:  number lines, fraction strips, fractions of a shape, fractions of a set, and now we are attempting to compare fractions with similar denominators.  There are a number of fun games in our Google Classroom that students can play to practice what we have been working on!

Reminders

We did a math fact quiz for addition and subtraction today!!  We are pleased to see some real improvement compared to where we began.  We are noticing that recall of the addition facts are much better than subtraction facts so please keep practising!  We will send their quizzes home on Monday!

Words Their Way quizzes on Monday.  Please bring your envelope back to school Monday!

Wednesday is Pink Shirt Day!
