Monday, May 3
We were so excited to welcome Mr. Kelly back today! It was exciting to tell him about our week at Coulee School and to show him our journals. Tomorrow we will be filling in our Lessons From 12 Mile Coulee heart map to summarize what we each took away.
In Math today both grades worked on reviewing division. We continue to build strategies and to make connections to multiplication. We will spend a few more days working on division and then have a "check in" on Thursday to see where everyone is at. If your child requires further practice and review, we will let you know.
Hats On! for Mental Health Day
On the first Wednesday in May, Albertans are invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health. Participating schools will relax their hat rules and encourage students and teachers to build understanding by wearing hats to school.
We will be discussing the purpose and focusing on how to build good mental health in a child-friendly way each day next week. We will be sensitive and thoughtful in our discussions as we are aware many people are struggling during this difficult time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mrs. Zwack via email.
Today we watched a short video explaining what "mental health" is and how it is connected to physical health. We will be working on this topic each day this week.
You may wish to watch the video with your child and have a discussion about their "take-aways".
Reminders:
If you have any newspapers at home, please send them to school tomorrow! We need them for an art activity.
Please review the need for adherence to mask learning, hand washing and sanitizing and keeping up with physical distancing. We are finding after time online and in the coulee, many students are not as diligent as they should be and are needing many teacher reminders. Thank you for your help!
