Celebrations

1.  Your children are AMAZING!  Mr. Kelly and Mrs. Zwack needed Kleenex during Writer's Workshop today!  We have been planning and working on writing Personal Narratives and using transition or move along words as we learned just last week.  We were astounded at the improvement and incredible success we heard as students volunteered to read their work aloud to the whole class. We were very proud and you should be as well!!

2.  Today we introduced the world map and explored continents and oceans.  We watched the video below https://www.youtube.com/watch/wYYakyS_HOg and discussed how challenging it is to take a world that is shaped like a sphere and to turn it into a 2D map.  Some students noticed that there were 2 Pacific Oceans on the map!  (BTW - not 2 different oceans!!)

Something to Talk About

We have been learning about "Growth Mindset" and "Fixed Mindset" this week building upon our work before the holiday.  Ask you child to explain the difference to you.  Here is the video we watched today

Report Cards come out at the end of the month.

Eric Harvie's next Peace Assembly is about feeling peaceful within ourselves.  We have been talking about finding a place where we feel good.  I am hoping to get a few pictures to add to our Peace Assembly.  Please note that if you send a picture it will be in the video attached to our school Youtube page.  What I am looking for: your child in a place that makes them feel good, feel at peace. It does not have to be a recent picture, it can be one from the past.  If you would like to participate, please email your photo to Jennele Coulson at jabaine@cbe.ab.ca.
