Celebrations

We learned about "similes" today in Writer's workshop.  We enjoyed the book Crazy Like a Fox and listened for what makes a simile and simile.  Afterward, we made a list of attributes for a well written simile.

A Simile . . .

-uses either "like" or "as"

-includes a describing word or "adjective" such as thin, round, grumpy, quick.

-compares one thing to something else.  The two things must be similar.

In math, we took another survey and then student's were challenged to use their learning from making yesterday's graph together and apply that to making this one on their own.  The graphs looked great and Mr. Kelly and Mrs. Zwack were very impressed with the attention to detail and accuracy of information.

Hope was happy to join our class listening to students sharing their stories!

Something to Talk About

Can you create a simile for each member of your family?  If you want to write them down you can bring them to share tomorrow!

Reminders

Eric Harvie's next Peace Assembly is about feeling peaceful within ourselves.  We have been talking about finding a place where we feel good.  I am hoping to get a few pictures to add to our Peace Assembly.  Please note that if you send a picture it will be in the video attached to our school Youtube page.  What I am looking for: your child in a place that makes them feel good, feel at peace. It does not have to be a recent picture, it can be one from the past.  If you would like to participate, please email your photo to Jennele Coulson at jabaine@cbe.ab.ca.

Thank you!

Jennele Coulson
