Tuesday March 16

 Tuesday March 16

Today was full of learning challenges!  We love to stretch our brains and to think outside of the box!

Celebrations:

1.  In literacy, Mrs. Zwack's group got new words for Words Their Way.  Mr. Kelly's class will receive theirs tomorrow.  All correct sorts are available in Google classroom to remind students and assist parents.  You may notice a bump up in challenge level because we have reassessed every student and have seen amazing growth.  Those who need a bit more time with a particular pattern will get that opportunity until they are ready to move on.

2.  In math, Mrs. Derksen presented another tricky problem to solve.  She modelled how we might use a number line to solve the problem.  Then, students were given a similar problem to try on their own:

We used number lines in their math books and then also acted it out on a big number line on the floor!  This helped students see the movement forward and backward to reach the answer!

Challenge your parents to solve the problem!

3.  In PE we worked on gymnastics routines as we moved through the circuits in the gym.  We enjoyed moving our bodies through space in interesting ways!

Something to Talk About:  We started a new project today with Mrs Derksen!  Tell your parents about our Changemaker project and who you have chosen to research.

Reminders:

Tomorrow is Spirit Day - you can dress as an animal or dress in green for St. Patrick's Day!

Online Book Fair ends Thursday!
